I feel that my Kindle is well protected in my skin. In fact, in some of the reviews, people complain that the silicone is too thick

I wouldn't say that it's too thick, but it's not exactly thin either. Note that you CAN use the skin in elastic band covers, but not hinge, railed, or snap-on. Well, at least it fits in my elastic band cover. But then again, my cover is also compatible with a Kobo (which is larger than a Kindle)
