Decisions, decisions...
I think Fantasy and people's appreciating for it is very strange indeed. I love to read Fantasy, but most Fantasy books published I don't like. Some of the ones I read, I only like certain things about. For instance I may like the characters and the writing but not really the story, or the level of magic, etc. More often I'll like the story, but not really the writing, or characters.

I will say that in general I like more gritty fantasy, usually with a low level of magic, and characters that aren't so two dimensional. I like intrigue and things to be less formulaic.

That said there are certain books I like that are exceptions to all of that.
