I've been on a diet since mid December and have pretty steadily lost weight until the day after I shoveled and scraped ice so vigorously, and then walked a couple of miles in the snow to get to the store. The day after all that unexpected exercise I was up FOUR pounds. It kind of panicked me because it seemed extreme, but when I googled it I found quite a few instances of people's weight going up after prolonged exercise that they weren't accustomed to. Apparently injured muscles retain fluid. I can't say for sure that's what happened to me, but that four pounds was gone the next day...
