In my experience, a combination of the two gives the best result. Meaning: you lose weight because you eat less and because you burn calories working out, but you'll also notice getting slimmer because you build muscle. But I totally agree with you: exercising but not eating right doesn't help you lose weight.

And oh, when I first starting dieting I had to eat more than I was used to. So I've haven't had more hunger during the day than I before I started dieting.
