It says it's possible, but even that article isn't definitive. The article doesn't say that it's a Vit. A overdose, but a beta carotene overdose. Beta carotene isn't Vit A, it's a precursor to Vit A, so we are talking about the toxicity of two separate elements.

The main reason I doubt that beta carotene is generally toxic is because the body has to turn beta carotene into Vit A. The body isn't going to turn more beta carotene into Vit A than it needs. The body is always seeking homeostasis and if the body is turning more beta carotene into Vit A, it is autointoxicating itself, which would mean there is another problem at play that needs to be looked into, like an allergy or compromised immune system.
