As mentioned, BN uses a different DRM to ADE, so you can't copy BN books to ADE. However you should be able to copy the ADE books to the nook.
AFAIK the only e-ink readers with touchscreens are the Sonys, but of them only the 950 has connectivity. Also, I don't think colour e-ink is commercially available yet, so colour screens are not e-ink and you won't get the long battery life. So you have to choose what is more important to you. At the moment you say that touchscreen is most important. There is a good deal on the Sony 350 at the moment, and since you are reading novels, the 5" screen should not be a problem.
I have a 300 (older model, not touchscreen) and I get 3-4 weeks on the battery, and have no problem loading Kobo books (I have not even registered with Sony).
The main problem with changing devices now is that BN books can only be read on a nook, or on a computer with the nook reading app, unless you are prepared to strip the DRM.
