My God!! You're right! I never would have guessed that was the case. And I've ridden through all areas on motorcycle rides. In fact, two rides we took were to ride from what we thought was the northern-most point, starting right at the border, and finishing in at what we thought was the southern-most point. Then a few months later doing the same thing for what we thought was the eastern-most point to what we thought was the western-most point! Now... I have to admit we blew it on one of them! Good call!
