I had absolutely no experience with Android prior to buying a NOOKcolor. I have a Windows Mobile 6.5 phone. I never used Terminal on my Mac and was totally clueless about ADB. I successfully rooted using the manual process and did subsequent updates manually as well. I had and continue to have no problems. It's all about taking the time to educate yourself and being able to process information and follow instructions. It's not complicated.
