also to totally rule out anything else beside a hot or dead pixel, get a microfiber clothe and rub the crap out the screen. When that is first unboxed the screen is very "sticky" with static from the plastic covering. It's like a magnet for any particles. I thought the same thing and it ended up just being a white spec.
