I get 25-28 hours to a charge using my lighted cover. I'm not sure how much of a difference it makes since I very rarely use my Kindle without the light on. For most backpacking trips it should easily last between power sources.

Or for any kind of light, you could strap this to the outside of your back pack during the day.
