$10/month is a great deal when you can take out 10 books at a time and books that might not be inexpensive. Public libraries usually stock a lot of current bestsellers which are usually more than $10 each.

Your comparison is pointless for a quick reader that doesn't want to be restricted to $1 and $2 ebooks. And say you get all $1 books, that's still only 10/month. At the library you can take out 10 per week.

I want to permanently own my favorites that I reread and reread. But that's only a small percentage of what I read in total.
