The issue with the Kindle DX, as mentioned above, is the lack of WiFi.
I live in Canada and I've owned the K3 and K3G. Using the "@free.kindle.com" address results in the document being "queued" for delivery via WiFi.
Reports above suggest the DX, without WiFi, simple doesn't have an "@free.kindle.com" address.
Sending to "@kindle.com" will result in the document being delivered over 3G, ONLY if the delivery charge is UNDER the delivery charge limit that you set. I set mine to "$0.00" so all documents wait in queue until transferred by USB.
Of course, on the K3, I can also receive them via WiFi.
