Before Sony added ADE/ePub to the 505, they wanted to add Mobipocket. But to add Mobipocket, Sony would have to have dropped LRX support and they were not going to do so. Mobipocket wanted to be the only DRM capable format on the 505. So Sony went ADE/ePub and that was the start of ePub's rise to fame and glory and the downfall of Mobipocket.
