Glad to see this thread revived!
Being a great Sherlock Holmes fan I thought I would enjoy M J Trow's "Inspector Lestrade" series. Wrong! Full of unfunny jokes, a confused boring plot line. Conan Doyle must be spinning in his grave. Ken Follett is another author I will never bother with again. There are very few books I won't finish - but these authors managed to produce them!
