fwiw, I've been through that, and other troubleshooting links at Adobe. I'm fairly computer literate, so I hacked my registry, and everything Adobe suggested. Nothing. I opened up a web case. If I don't hear from them in a few days, I'll simply create yet another Adobe ID, and be careful how, and what devices I activate. In attempting to recapture ID #1, which failed, I've now lost ID #2.

Not necessarily. I found on one of the Adobe troubleshooting pages that, if you authorize/deauthorize on the same device, you'll get the "too many activations" error message. Like in an earlier post of mine, I suspected that may have been the case with my netbook. Because I couldn't download a book, I deauthorized, and reauthorized numerous times. That seems to have created a "too many activations" situation.
For myself, this isn't nearly the hassle as many, who may have many books associated with a specific ID, as I haven't purchased that many books. I can see the frustration many may have. Quite frankly, if I was in that situation, I'd just strip the DRM.
