for kindle, what is the best way to reflow the PDF files?

I tried calibre to transfer pdf to mobi,

683minutes = ~10 hours. Yet still not complete and cpu was always busy

Thank I tried pdftohtml, It did a full convert in less two minutes. But some characters was transformed into sysbols.
