For some odd reason I am imagining a future society wherein everyone grows up using e-reading devices (that are far better than ours, I hope). Will they develop disgusting nostalgia-istic tendencies over outdated models? Will any model reach a point of stasis and ubiquity, the kind that could stretch for decades and would result in mass disappointment and re-education when a new model is released? Grandma has been using her Kobo AX9000 (fictional!) for 40+ years but they just released a new model and now she is all confused and can't figure out how to read crap on it?!

It also makes me think about the undeniable temporary nature of all technology and how e-readers will just be another step on a scale to somewhere we don't know about yet in the long saga of reading.
