I find this all very interesting. Having just received my first device for Christmas, a Sony PRS-650, I joined this forum to talk with others who have e readers, as well as to find out some information on this very subject. Having searched the Internet I came across a book by one of my favourite authors that was only available in Kindle format, nowhere else. Of course I wanted it, so I started searching the net to see if it were possible to read it on my Sony. Luckily this forum pointed me in the right direction to find my answer. Now I have purchased that book, which is for my use only, no one else's, and I can now read it on my Sony. I've also purchased a few others books, and as long as I am able to read them on my Sony, I will continue to purchase books. So in my case, being able to remove the DRM has resulted in me purchasing books where I wouldn't have if it were not possible.
