I figure device makers should make devices as light as possible, then consumers can customize with cases for better grip, tougher protection and such, according to their preferences. It's not possible for any device maker to produce a device that can suit all consumers' ergonomic needs.
The more popular your device, the wider the selection of cases, of course.
