B&N entering the market has been the best thing to happen for Kindle customers. They have forced Amazon to react to B&N who has put pressure on them since they entered.
It was B&N (Fictionwise really) who developed apps for devices. When B&N launched their eBook platform and released their Windows, Macs, Winmo, BB clients they had access to millions of customers. Amazon had to respond by opening their store to non eInk Kindles.
When B&N dropped their eInk prices Amazon also had to respond.
Now that B&N has released a color eReader, you will see Amazon will soon release their model.
