As an older person with vision problems who has both the Nook Classic and the Kindle 3, I found the Nook's little digital keyboard to be very difficult to operate. I much prefer the Kindle's keyboard. Being able to feel the little buttons makes it much easier to operate.

As for changing font sizes, the K3 has a button on the little keyboard for that. I know the Nook has the little menu at the bottom, but I found the electronic menus tough to negotiate, so I rarely changed my font size. But with the K3, the little button made it so easy, that I change things up when I start a book until I'm happy with both the font size and style. Just show your dad the key and he'll be able to do it himself.

I definitely prefer eInk to color since my only interest is reading books that are in black and white and LCD quickly gives me headaches. I also love the long battery life of the Kindle. Being older, I found it a PITA to always be charging the Nook.
