Can you embolden Mobi files directly?

I have been using Calibre to convert mobi files to epub files with extra css to make the text bold. Then I convert the epub file back to mobi, again using Calibre.

Voila! bold mobi files. I find these much easier to read on the Kindle.

I'm wondering whether there a simpler--one step--way to accomplish this. I know mobi format doesn't read css files but Calibre seems to use the epub css in converting mobi.

Any ideas?
