Rooting - I may be turning to the dark side

So I've had my NC for about a month now. I have been extremely pleased with it. It is so much more than I anticipated. My wife calls my NC my "second wife" as I'm reading on it all the time now.

In fact, a few days ago I stated on the rooting poll I wasn't ever going to do it, but the more I read up on rooting, the more interesting it appears...I may be turning to the dark side...

So my questions:

The only big negative, I undestand, is that you can no longer do the free 1 hour reading in store. Anything else?

It appears that there is much to be gained (better web surfing, better PDF support, better word/excell support, games, tons of cool aps) for minimal loss in my mind.

But I want to make sure...

- Do I still have the same ability to purchase books , magazines at BN via the "store" link the nook has built in?

- Do I still read books the same way (no need to dowload a new ap), or do I need to dowloand the BN android ap to read my books now?
