Until the day they aren't anymore. Or the publisher decided to put a geo-restiction on the book in the meantime, preventing you from re-downloading. That goes with the "un-drm" part. I'm not much for the "in the cloud" for stuff I paid for. Amazon sound like the safest option for this kind of things, but I wouldn’t trust even them.

You do realize that you can save Amazon books to your computer if you want. It is convienent to have them in the archive but most Kindle owners have a copy saved on their computer hard drive as well. So that if the great hand of Jeff Bezos reaches in to take all of our e-books out of the archive we can simply reload them because we saved them on our hard drives.
Interestingly enough, this very "problem" exists for people who buy books from Sony, BN, Kobo, or any other ebook store that has an archive. Which means it is a "problem" for all ebook readers and a good reason to have all of the books saved to your hard drive no matter what type of device you own.
