There are anecdotal reports that the unlighted cover for the Kindle 3 can cause the Kindle 3 to freeze or restart. There have also been reports of Amazon giving refunds or upgrading people to the lighted cover.
As far as I know, no-one's come up with a convincing explanation as to the cause of the problem.
