the nook color offer's "sepia, mocha Gray, Butter, normal and night" for backgrounds.
I think the Sepia or Mocha is the brown you are referring to. That is nice, you put your brightness on about 10% at nightime and it's really gorgous to read on.
and oh the nook color also uses Gorilla Glass
