This response is thorough and to the point explaining the limitations of PDF format.

If you wanted help creating an epub book from scratch the ePub forum would have been a great place to start, or asking that question here and not making people guess what you are trying to do would have worked also.

Open office has a Writer2ePub (forum) extension to create ePub documents with OpenOffice.

Atlantis Word processor has the ability to save as a epub.

There is a Writers forum here and a Workshop forum here that may also be able to help you get started.
