I believe that Adobe is brain-dead at the top - fortunately I'll bet that in less than 5 years they'll be irrelevant because both HTML5 and newer ebook reading systems will displace the older technology.

I know how you feel... I have had for months the same problem... All the advise I've had could not be followed through... I ended up removing DRM for epub books... That's the only way I can read them on my Sony...
I think I know, what happened... I had 3 devices activated on ADE.. When I got my Sony I activated it on ADE... Then I downloaded Sony reader software, and they also wanted me to activate the reader.. I did that, and then next time I went to ADE they asked for activation, so I did it again... and there you go.... too many activations...
I was so desperate to be able to read epub, that I had bought several readers, before buying the Sony... but now Amazon seems to have all the titles I was desperate for available... No more any need for my Sony..
