I had a K2 and loved it except for pdf handling so I bought a DXG to get the larger screen. The larger screen allows one to read a full page of a pdf file without resorting to panning and zooming, even two column layouts. Some documents have diagrams with tiny text that is a little too small to read in portrait orientation. I find that simply rotating to landscape (which DX/DXG can do automatically) zooms the file to fit the width of the screen and that has always been sufficient to read any text in a diagram on every pdf I have looked at so far.
In landscape mode the entire page is not shown of course, so the page forward/back buttons function to show the rest of the page. The step is "blocky" so you night end up splitting a diagram that way, in which case you will have to resort to pan and zoom to display the full diagram on a single view.
Duokan has some features that improve pdf viewing. It is easy to install and set-up- just follow the instructions on many of the web pages that explain the process.
Duokan or not, the larger screen of the DX/DXG is definitely better for viewing pdfs than the smaller screens.
My brother has the Sony daily edition with touch screen. While it seems to handle pdfs well, I did not like the glossy touch screen and low contrast of the display. The e-ink pearl display without a touch screen overlay is absolutely the best e-ink display. If you see it side-by-side with other e-ink displays and especially with touch screens you'll know exactly what I mean.
