Are you using the cable that came with the Kobo? My mom was using a generic cable and she was having the problems you are experiencing. I know you *should* be able to use any cable, but for some reason the one she used didn't work.

Also, try a different USB port?

EDIT: Sorry - I just read your other thread and see that you have already tried different cables. Apologies.
