Most people find additional features quite useful once they realize the convenience gained from it. For example, while driving I can have text2speech read to me the news or some novel, this saves me time and $$ since I don't have to be limited to /and/ buy human read audio books.

I can only see that working with having the programed voice reading the news or something to me, but the radio does that perfectly already.. reading a book and listening to one, are completely different experiences, and i wouldn't want to jump back and forth.. I'm curious, how many percent of kindle owners actually use the text to speech regularly? one in a hundred sounds like far too big a number.. I woud see what you're aiming at here, if you say that you want to see smartphones and laptops start using a similar screen as an e-ink reader only in color.. because such little extras as calender, calculator, notes etc. work so much better on a laptop, somewhat on a tablet and for some people on a smartphone, but an e-ink reader in my opinion could not replace a laptop, for so many reasons.. which i hope you get without me listing them for you here. and if people like yourself feel they need to check their calender and other aps on absolutely every device starting with their fridge and finishing with their watch, well.. no point in arguing with you. YET, i would like to see the e-ink technology progress, so that the black goes more black and the white goes more white, but I see that as affecting the product's primary function.. and of course color e-ink would be great, but I can live without it, read my magazines the old fashioned way or on my laptop
