Basically correct. Though I haven't tried a completely automatic process (leave Calibre running, leave Kindle's wireless on) to see if Calibre news delivery is totally effortless, like receiving an Amazon subscription. I suspect some errors of the type "Amazon couldn't deliver ...", due to the Kindle being off for too long, as I've seen them before.

The "Next Article" click is invaluable for news reading (who reads every article of a newspaper or magazine?). On my 505, it takes forever to skip articles by paging or going up to a section menu and then down again. The fast-forward via stroke-and-hold of the newer touch Sonys is much faster and uncannily accurate at stopping just where you want it when you release the hold.

A 3G Kindle allows you to fetch Calibre news on the run with Calibre's server activated. Nice for vacations without access to a local PC (with USB port) running Calibre.

I think you're thinking of another vendor, as Amazon allows full web.

While I love my older Sony, and my next reader will probably be a Sony, and since you have contributed and know so much more about e-readers, I'll only dare to suggest that Kindles are pretty good for some people. The Kindle's extra functionalities (not considering aesthetics): the 3G gift by Amazon, the free.kindle.com address (and Calibre's utilization of it), the Calibre 3G server, and the many free ebook offerings (compared to Sony), make it worthwhile to consider having a Kindle as a secondary reader, if not your primary reader.
