Bending downwards is nearly impossible so I first have to put my hurt foot on the next step, then my good foot, then to the next step with my hurt foot, etc. This sucks since our house seems to be made up out of stairs (24 including several 3/4 step stairs).

Got a good excuse to take it easy in the store next week, it's still incredibly busy and I hadn't have enough time for my usual January/start of the month chores so I might get those finally done.
I had a friend who fell through her attic roof onto her cement garage floor a few years ago, crushing her ankle. Something she learned in therapy and passed on to me has stuck with me -- "Good leg to heaven, bad leg to hell." Going up the stairs, lead with the good leg and let the injured one follow. Going down the stairs, lead with the injured leg and let the good one follow. It works because it keeps you from having to put weight on your leg as it is bent, which means it also works in a cast!
