Perhaps e-mailing Bookeen is your best bet if you have questions, but I honestly think you're worrying unnecessarily. The Gen3 is a very good reader indeed. The only concerns I've seen people raise about the button are that:
1. Some people find it a bit stiff (but I don't personally; I like buttons with a positive action).
2. It very occasionally misses a press, which appears to be a firmware issue which I'm sure will be sorted.
