It's a VERY low traffic group. Perhaps best to read the archived messages on the web site.
If you want a device which can "take a real beating", however, I'd steer clear of any eInk reader. The screens have a glass substrate which is rather delicate and easily fractured by bumps and knocks. They do need to be treated with care.
