As an author and publisher of ebooks, I quickly learned to include the volume number in the title of my ebooks. There is simply no reason for a reader to have to search around to find the first book in a series. I do it like this: The Interglactic Peddler - Volume 1, etc. When my readers go to Smashwords or to my website, they can quickly see the order in which I created the ebooks. Only makes sense to me.
