I find myself visiting the tea sites and reading about the teas. I think I need to figure out what I like about the ones I do drink now.
I do like Earl Gray. (I hope your throat feels better, Betty.)

Learning about anything is always good. To learn about things you enjoy is even better. There have been tea rooms in existence for thousands of years, and coffee bars for hundreds. People are experimenting with all sorts of flavored coffees every day in places like Starbucks and similar chains.
Consider yourself lucky. You are just beginning your exploration and have an almost unlimited arena ahead of you. I've been at it since I was a teenager ( a year or two ago) and now have confined my search to black teas with the occasional dip into obscure oolongs. I get served green teas every day here in restaurants with meals and find them wanting. Even the finest powdered matcha (and all matcha is powdered by definition but not all matcha is good...) doesn't move me the way a good rich black tea does. Unfortunately, Starbucks only sells Tazo teas and I only enjoy (to a limited degree) it's English Breakfast tea, and find it much more enjoyable iced rather than hot.
Today I'll make a run downtown to pick up another tin of Taylor's of Harrogate's English Breakfast tea, and see if there is some other brand on the shelves today that perhaps I haven't tried yet. Often limits make life easier...
