The Advent Vega is a 10 inch device, priced between cheapish tablets like the Pocketbook IQ and the Pandigital and way below iPad level. Nevertheless, its specs are really punchy: Tegra 2 chip, HDMI output and so on.

Nevertheless, I'll just stick to my points concerning reading, as this is Mobileread.

The device doesn't have access to the Market, so you're quite limited in your choice of apps. Nevertheless, the community has come again to save us: in the MoDaCo forum you can find a custom ROM which allows you access to the market alongside a performance pack. The performance pack has to be accessed through subscription though.

Once the device has been modded and you are in the market, it's much easier to find yourself acquainted with it. Nevertheless, the second great obstacle comes to play, and this one is harder to avoid: viewing angles are really awful. You need to hold the device in very specific ways for it to be fully readable. This takes away a lot of the reading enjoyment.

In the upper side, you have the whole market for choice, and Cool Reader's 2 column mode stands out as most useful. Plus, the performance of the tablet is really snappy.
