I don't see that distinction quite as clearly; but, in terms of nekokami's query:
In your mind, is it morally necessary to compensate someone for their labor, assuming they have not voluntarily donated that labor?
Would your answer then be "No", there is no moral necessity? Since your friends are under no obligation to reimburse the producers of the work you lend.
