If you don't have ice crampons for your shoes, look around the house for something hard & rough (or with a point) you could attach to the bottom of your boot soles - to dig into the ice - you only need something under the ball of your foot - to give you some stability. Like putting chains on tires.
Also - kitty litter thrown on top of ice will give you traction too.
