I saw this a little late, maybe. But I have a comment. I observed that women tend to be attracted by men that can provide for them and for their children (even if they do not have children yet). It is reasonable, useful and maybe it has been an evolutionary trait, and maybe it is still.
In normal situations, of peace and order, the best possible provider is the good guy, serious, reliable, hard worker, respectful, generous and attentive.
In times of troubles, of difficulties, when one is on the run, escaping from dangers, running for life, striving for food and shelter, than it might be more effective the thief, the rascal, the violent, the ruthless. He might have a better chance of surviving himself and helping others to survive than the good guy who is so admirable and generous with his paycheck, when there are no paychecks no more, but ...
