I used a Kindle 2 for 15 months and had no complaints about page-turn time or the black flash.
I didn't care for e-ink's contrast, need for an external light and poor images. I prefer nonfiction, and I want to see all the maps, graphics and other images that come with any books. I also read a lot of news and want to see those images, and to navigate quickly with touch screen.
I wanted a multi-use device because I'm away from home for long stretches. With a tablet, I have books, music, photos, e-mail and Internet in a convenient package. With an iPad and iPhone combo, I no longer take a netbook, e-ink device or camera with me.
I figure devices are just tools; use whichever ones you need. We all have different needs and preferences. The best thing about the marketplace is choice.
I still buy paper books, too. I just leave 'em at home.
