For me it comes down to backlit or e-ink, with the portability of each device factored in. My first choice is usually the backlit screen, but there are a lot of times when for any of several reasons I prefer my Kindle. I use the 7" tablet mostly at night when I'm settled in somewhere comfortable (and close to a power source in case I forget to charge it), and the Kindle if I'm out in the sun or away from home.
