Interested in French and Creating epubs
Hi All. Have become hooked on my Sony reader because of the inbuilt French to English Dictionary. Have been studying the language for 45 years and read fluently, but am grateful to have a translation at the tip of a finger, when there is a word I don't know. Also great to have a book on my reader within a minute of deciding I want to read it. Just finished the latest Houellebecq which would have taken ages to get to me by snail mail and would have costs loads more than the epub price (bought from Fnac online). Anyone out there studying any of the languages on the Sony (German, Spanish, Italian, Dutch) will find a huge advantage, particularly as so many of the classics are free from Gutenberg.
Would be great if online book stores had a notices function so you could follow your favourite authors: for example, I'm on the edge of my seat waiting for the 2nd part of Amitav Gosh's promised trilogy that started with Sea of Poppies. I want it as soon as it is available, but can't find anyone who'll tell me as a normal function of their site.
Am also interested in creating epubs. I'm an editor and responsible for producing about (quick calculation) 25 million pages on paper a year, most of which go in the bin, alas. Trying now to track down how to turn my magazine into an epub. InDesign exports it easily enough (and with amazingly small file size), but then have to find out how to go in and edit the epub into shape. Any pointers welcome.
