The first was "Look Again" by Lisa Scottoline. It was okay. Pretty good for keeping the interest but I tend to not want romance mixed in with my mystery/thriller. Dislike books that you know as soon as a character is introduced, you know they're a love interest and you pretty much can conclude that somehow or another he/she and she/he will end up together at the end.

Just finished "Too Close to Home" by Linwood Barclay and REALLY enjoyed it. No romance thrown in the mystery. Lots of twists and turns to keep the interest. Although it had a fair amount of violence, I liked that it wasn't very graphic. I've read some books that it actually bothers me to read because of that.

Don't care for police/detective stories, anything too graphic (like I said) or government/military.

Don't care for writers that take a paragraph to describe a scene...too wordy....cut to the chase please. Used to enjoy Joy Fielding but before getting the nook hadn't read anything for quite awhile.

Any suggestions would be great.

Just downloaded "The Other Daughter" by Lisa Gardner so we'll see what that's like.
You could also give Lisa Unger a try (I read "Beautiful Lies"), although I will admit I wasn't thrilled with it. A little goofy.

Even better, try Vicki Tyley (she's here on MR). Her books are available at Smashwords. Her mysteries are set in Australia, very little romance (only that the characters are involved with someone) and lots of twists and turns. And I wouldn't overlook her books because she's indie, I found her books way better than the Lisa Unger I mentioned. Try "Sleight Malice" first. Linkie: http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/21361
