Smile New here, and new to regular reading

Hi everyone. I recently bought a Nook Color e-reader over holiday break. I partially got it because I love gadgets and I think the idea of having a library of books in the palm of your hand pretty appealing. I historically am not an avid reader. I probably average 8-10 books a year, including audiobooks.

After I got my Nook I started looking for online communities and such. I found goodreads and MobileRead which both have a 100 books challenge. Something clicked in me and I found myself very excited to join in. I am now inexplicably excited about reading. For some reason I used to think it is boring and time consuming but now that I have challenged myself and made a habit out of it my perception has completely changed. I look forward to reading when I get home from work and was excited at the beginning of this weekend at the prospect of starting, and possibly finishing a new book.

When I started my personal challenge to read 100 books this year I didn't really think I would make 100. I figured I'd be happy to hit at least 50. But now that am just under 1 week in with 3 books under my belt already, I'm starting to think I could actually make it, or at least get close.

So anyway, I wanted to say thanks to communities like you for helping to motivate a sub-casual reader into a readaholic. It's very motivating to have a large group of happy social readers. Hopefully one day I can help inspire others to enjoy reading in the same way.
