There is a similar discussion thread. It is not possible with the current Kindle firmware but apparently it is possible using the alternate Duokan software. You can find the Duokan thread here.

I installed the Duokan software yesterday and I see you have the option of using the normal Kindle screensaver (hacked or not) or a custom screensaver. I'm not sure how to make save the last page read so you will have to ask the experts.
