DRM is driven by the Publishers. All of the various bookstores sell non-DRMed books. The books that are sold with DRM are sold that way because the author and/or publishers insist on it.

like Amazon persist with DRM?
I really don't know why you would presume that I was trying to pin something on Amazon, as you put it, or blame Amazon for DRM.
As is frequently stated in MR forums, Amazon is the biggest bookseller with the widest choice. It is also well known that they sell e-books with DRM, therefore I assume they are the biggest seller of e-books with DRM.
So, it seemed perfectly natural to me, to use them as an example, rather than attempt to list every single company that sells e-books with DRM.
