Depression Bay
Well actually Deception Bay, Depression Bay is one of the local nicknames. One of the nicer ones.
This was a town in the middle of nowhere with cheap land where the state government in their wisdom decided to build a lot of public housing.
Imagine - public housing, no local employment, no amenities, no public transport... I think what the government did might be more kindly called sweeping a problem under the carpet.
Locals call the place D Bay. I have lived here 20 years and lately there are people trying to make the place a bit upmarket. These people decided Deception Bay was not the best name for such a beautiful place, and suggested its name be changed to Endeavour Bay. As if! We don't want to live in E Bay!!!
