I've read all the WOT books published so far, even dreaded Number 10 (which took me many years and many tries to get through). But I also recently reread the first book, and it was
fabulous. As a stand-alone book (it does nicely wrap up at the end) I can highly recommend that book, even if I can't necessarily recommend the entire series to someone

I had forgotten how good that first book was, and why I was so enthralled with the series from the start.
